Exploring the Experience of Disability

through the Visual Arts.

 

There are many examples of artist who have lived with Disability. Some have used their Art to explore the experience of being Disabled.

 

This 45 minute workshop offers a relaxed presentation and discussion on the work of three disabled artists: Riva Lehrer, Tony Heaton and Frida Kahlo. The works considered will be both paintings or sculptures.

 

Participants will gain a better understanding of

  • the ways in which those artists have portrayed the experience of disability

  • the motivations and aims of the artists

  • the ‘aesthetic of disability’

 

Access:

  • the workshop will be designed in consultation with the Greenbelt Access Team

  • it will be amenable to BSL signers; please contact the onsite team if you would like a Signer to attend

  • audio description can be included, if anyone needs it
